Today´s church is energized by the involvement of a new generation of senior adults. Collectively they bring a tremendous wealth of skills, experience, energy, and wisdom. Adults 55-up are not content to be mere spectators. They are a part of the lifegiving presence of Jesus Christ in our modern world.
And the diversity of adults 55-up is changing as well. Seniors now include not only all builders and baby-boomers (born 1946-1964) generations, but is now welcoming Gen-Xers as well! At the same time, the importance of remaining integrated with all generations for mutual encouragement and understanding is a primary objective for City View Church.
For today’s senior adult, the thirst for life-giving friendships, supportive community and ongoing spiritual growth remains great. Many are entering a new chapter of life with shifted priorities and new opportunities for meaningful involvement. And the vital resources of caring, community, loyalty and commitment that they bring to the church family are unsurpassed.
City View church’s ministry to adults 55-up regularly schedules events of interest to seniors, including concerts, local outings, seasonal gatherings and monthly no-host lunches. Keep in mind – we don’t check IDs. People of all ages are welcome!
Attenders discover practical and inspiring ways to apply Scripture to living, while also growing as a community of friends who offer fun, care, and encouragement to one another. Regular activities and outings are planned. The class is led by Pastor Ed and Edie Chapman. Meet Sundays, 9-10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Center.
Various connect groups meet at home locations to build friendships and enjoy Bible discussion. One group for seniors meets at the City View Retirement Apartments in the Community Room. For information on upcoming meetings, contact Mary May, email@example.com.
Two quilters groups meet, each with a distinctive ministry purpose. The Thursday quilters create original hand-sewn items that are sold to support world missions. The Wednesday Prayers ‘n’ Squares group creates lap quilts and prays for critically ill persons. Please contact the church office for times and locations.
Additional groups for informal Bible discussion and prayer are also offered. For more information, please contact the church office, or email Pastor Ed Chapman, firstname.lastname@example.org.
