As long as the church has been the church, the period of 40 days leading up to Easter has been set aside as a time to seek the Lord. Pastor Troy is building on that theme, inviting each City View friend to purpose these days to be a time of united, world-changing prayer for this fellowship. It is our desire that we will grow in influence in our families and our neighborhoods, in our workplaces and our schools, in our city and our nation in 2018.

God promises He will hear, He will forgive, and He will heal when we pray. His invitation is clear: “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

On Sunday of each week there will be a new list of prayer focuses for us to pray, one target for each day.

We are also adding a place to customize your personal prayer by creating a list of your 3 biggest dreams. By praying for these daily, we are believing the Lord will also respond in recognizable, specific ways.

Wed, Feb 14 – Marriages: That husbands and wives would consciously place God first. That mutual honor would prevail in every home. That the Lord would enrich, restore, heal and bring joy. Grant help with finances, scheduling, and all that is part of facing a busy, often hostile world.

Thu, Feb. 15 – Families – Help parents to guide children with vision, wisdom, and the fruit of the Spirit. Help kids to grow strong in their faith, to be discerning and to face their worlds with conviction. To make the family a source of joy, purpose, and strength for all.

Fri, Feb. 16 – Friends – Let us be a light to our friends, our neighbors, our coworkers and classmates, showing the genuine love of God through our actions and words. Help us to be salt and light to our community.

Sat, Feb. 17 – Unsaved Loved ones – Remember those we love. Draw them to yourself. Let them hear your voice and see your works in their daily lives. Let them not be tempted or distracted, but to turn to you in times of need. Cause them to encounter You in such a way that leads them to victory over sin and the promise of eternal life in You.

It's easy to get distracted when you pray. Jesus knew his disciples needed help in that area. To help focus your prayer time,  consider ordering it into four segments that form the acronym ACTS:

Adoration – "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.” Psalm 48:1.

Confession –  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Thanksgiving – “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18,

Supplication – "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7,

Over this 40 day period, what are 3 Big Dreams you want to lay before God? Think of things that, when they materialize, you'll know for sure that only God could have made them happen.
